David left school in 1985 and joined an Exeter based consultancy Harvey McGill & Hayes. During this time he attended Exeter College and obtained a Higher National Certificate in Civil Engineering. During David’s time at Harvey McGill & Hayes he witnessed the company changing from the local consultancy to a multi-national, multi-disciplined organisation of Faber Maunsell. In 1998 he achieved Incorporated Engineer status with the Engineering Council and the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management.
In 2004 he joined Sands as an engineer within the civil engineering team. In 2007 David was promoted to associate director and is jointly responsible for the management of the civil engineering team. During David’s 23 years within the industry he has obtained a wide variety of experience ranging from small developments to multi-million capital investment schemes. He has worked for a number of different clients in both the public and private sectors, including water companies, developers, housing associations, local authorities. David has not only undertaken design of schemes, but has also worked as part of a management team for a £10 million capital investment project as well as carrying out numerous site supervision roles.
