Structural Engineering

Ever since the industrial revolution and the incredible feats achieved by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and Thomas Telford, engineers have been striving to create ever more efficient and elegant structures.  The science behind these creations is Structural Engineering.  It is responsible for ensuring that the buildings and bridges we rely on remain stable at all times.  In fact, think of any structure and the chances are that it will have been designed by a Structural Engineer, anything from tunnels to airports, sculptures to staircases.

Our team of highly qualified Structural Engineers work closely with clients, Architects, contractors and other engineering disciplines to ensure that the strength, stiffness and stability of structures is maintained throughout their design life.  This involves identifying the loads which act upon a structure, calculating the forces and stresses which arise within the structure, and finally designing and detailing the structure to successfully support and resist these forces.  Other aspects such as cost, constructability, safety, aesthetics and sustainability are considered during the development of a design to ensure the choices made satisfy all parties.
