Highways Engineer We ideally require an experienced Engineer with at least five years experience of highway design and detailing, to be responsible for the design of residential highways, commercial highways and estates together with the associated infrastructure. Understanding of the highways adoption procedure is essential, i.e. Section 38 and 278 agreements. Knowledge of utilities and services is preferable. They should be conversant with current construction standards and design documentation. They need to be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD and be proficient with 3-D Highway Design Software, ideally PDS. Experience with WinDes drainage design software would be an advantage. The successful candidate will be able to work with minimal supervision, and manage their own projects. They will have to liaise and negotiate with the Client, Architect and Local Authorities. Sands is committed to training and developing it’s staff, consequently we would be happy to consider an enthusiastic and self-motivated candidate with less experience, or a Graduate Engineer if we felt they would fit in well with our existing team. Salary: subject to relevant experience Structural Engineer An experienced Engineer, with around 5 years experience or more, to be responsible for the Design of Building Structures ranging from simple loft conversions and house extensions, to large multi-million pound “prestige” projects. They should be conversant with all building materials, masonry, concrete, steel and timber. They need to be familiar with AutoCad and have used a 3-D Analysis package. Sands currently use QSE, Staad Pro, CSC Fastrak and Orion Packages. The successful candidate will be able to work with minimal supervision and be able to manage their own projects. They will work with Sands Technicians to produce drawings. Salary: subject to relevant experience. Structural Engineer – Specialising in Timber Frame Engineering An experienced Engineer, with around 5 years experience or more, to be jointly responsible for a small team of engineers and technicians, working principally on Timber Frame Housing for a National House Builder. They should be conversant with all building materials, masonry, concrete, steel and timber although timber is the priority. They need to be familiar with AutoCad, Excel and have used a 3-D Analysis package. Sands currently use QSE, Staad Pro, CSC Fastrak and Orion Packages. The successful candidate will be able to work with minimal supervision, be able to manage the team and liaise with the client. Salary: subject to relevant experience.
