Working alongside Grainge Architects, Sands provided the structural and drainage design for this impressive private dwelling.  The team worked closely with the contractor, Setter and Saunders, during the construction process and the result was a well co-ordinated build with input from all parties, a happy client and a real team feeling on the project.

One of the major structural design elements was the main staircase providing access to both first and second floors with support only provided by the landings at each level.

Dynamic analysis was obtained to predict its response to potential loading patterns to ensure the design was sufficient to provide a robust feel in service.

The structure was formed using a hybrid of Steel framing and masonry elements.  The discovery of a well under the footprint of the proposed building led to adjustments which incorporated it as a feature in the entrance hall, capped with a glass floor.  Sands also provided drainage drawings for the scheme alongside the structural work resulting in a fully co-ordinated design service.
