Sands were commissioned as lead consulting engineers in 2013 by a joint venture development consortium consisting of Persimmon Homes (South West) and Redrow Homes.

Sands professional services included the detailed design of a proposed relief road within Monkton Heathfield, Taunton. The relief road was to be re-designated as the A38 and bounded land outlined for the proposed urban expansion of West Monkton.

Our brief included the design of appropriately 1.5 km of relief road and incorporated three roundabouts, Toucan and Pegasus crossings together with full signage design, all with an allowance for future dualling.

The cost of the project was approximately £3.5million and was opened to the public in early 2016.
